Have you ever thought about telling a story with pictures? In collaboration with the International Photo Center Lahti, Now we proudly present a number of photography courses in Hub Helsinki.
This class is designed for intermediate/advanced amateur photographers who want to learn how to create a photo-essay.
A Photo-Essay is made of a series of photos and text and is intended to tell a powerful and distinct story or to evoke a series of emotions in the viewer. It can be a profile of a person or a place, or a story that focus on a particular event or on a political and social issue, for example. The images can be arranged as a sequence or as stand-alone images, depending on the subject matter of the photo-essay.
During the workshop participants will produce their own photo-essays, according to their ideas and interests, and will work on it throughout the duration of the course. We’ll start by exploring how to generate ideas, research the subject matter, write text and captions, and visualize the story. In each meeting the students’ work will be presented and critiqued.
All the photo essays will be reviewed during the last class.
